Memory Making Ideas: Teach Your Child Photography

photo compliments of www.morguefile.com
Looking for a fun and educational way to make memories with your children this summer?
Why not help them learn photography? What better way to help capture your child's special memories than by letting them take photos of the things they love. As a parent that dull banged up toy that sits on a shelf in our child's room may be insignificant, but to the child it may be one of the most important items they own.
So let your child explore with a camera. Have them bring it along on what ever adventures you may take, such as trips to the park, sporting events, camping or even just in the back yard. You may want to help them create a scrap book of their summer adventures.  Look through the photos with them and ask about the things they have taken pictures of. Then you can help them pick out photos for their scrapbook and write down a few words about those photos.

If you are not sure how to teach your child photography I suggest checking out Betterphoto.com they have some really great resources to help teach kids photography.
Their website is filled with lots of free resources like 'Top Ten Beginning Photography Tips' and low cost like the 'Absolute Beginner's Guide to Taking Great Photos'. They even have examples to help teach kids photography and section with Introductory Photo Assignments.
If you have small children or are worried about them accidentally breaking your camera Toys R Us has some reasonably priced digital cameras for children. Another option is to purchase disposable cameras however then you have the expense of developing the film. With a digital you can go through the photos with your child and then print only the ones that you want.

Who knows you may be raising the next Ansel Adams or Anne Geddes.
