Foraging For Fragments

Time to forget about all that needs to be done and pull together the bits and pieces of the week. If you have found some fragments hanging around your place stop over at Mrs. 4444's and share them.

I came across this Getty image at the beginning of the week and until I read the credits I thought I was looking at a photo of Kate Winslet. So I decided to do some comparison and here is what I found. I thought they might be related but there is no evidence to even suggest that. What do you think?

This is from last week at the Sturgis Rally. I am a little confused as to why anyone would name their store Overpriced T's. Honesty is good and all, but from a marketing standpoint I don't see the logic. Am I just missing the appeal here?

How about a reflection of a reflection, and a sky shot all in one! It took a number of tries before I got it but I didn't give up.

Well if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you may have already seen this. This is my first #Steampunk mini top hat hair accessory. I just really hope my client is as happy with it as I am.

I also shard the above photo on Facebook and my oldest brother commented  "way cool, how do you think it would look on me?"  So of course I took that as a Photoshop challenge. My reply was "simply dashing, see!"





Today's final fragment . . .
At the beginning for the month I wrote "I am not sure which direction my course will take but I will know eventually." Well, I still don't know exactly but taking a bit of advice from Cyril Connolly it will definitely be something that is true to myself. I even made myself this little sign as a reminder.

Frick Frack Frags

Trying to think of an unusual title for this post all that came to mind was Frick Frack Frags and that got me to thinking, well what exactly does Frick Frack mean. I have heard it used in reference to a close bond as in "they were as close as Frick and Frack" and I have heard it used in what my children would call 'creative swearing', "Fricken Fracken Fricassee". Is it good or bad? Where did it come from?

I discovered that the original meaning is of a close bond and came from the ice-skating comedy team of Frick and Frack of Ice Follies fame in the late 1930's. To find out their original stage name check out this article.

Of course somewhere along the way the meaning changed to a less complimentary meaning and of course variations of Frick n Frack have become alternatives for swearing, but I much prefer the original meaning. 

. . . hmmm . . . My fragments this week are nothing to swear at and the only common bond is that they are each linked to a fun blog hop.  However, I like the title so I am sticking too it.

Walking along main street in downtown I looked up and couldn't resist the beauty of this old building with the bright blue sky.

One of these days I will not worry about turning into a chubby chipmunk and go inside for some yummy hand-dipped chocolate!

Thursday Challenge: Broken

Today there was a tornado that touched down just outside Sioux Falls, where my sons live. One of my sons sent me this video of the hail, although there was no reports of major damage I am sure something got broken.

To start my fragments off I want to share the link to this really awesome photography project I saw earlier this week. Please click the following link and watch the video, it shows how a New York photograph is capturing humanity one moment at a time. This is such an Awesome video and project! It looks like so much fun, I would love to do something like this.

Hit a slight snag earlier this week when I experienced another TIA. At least this one wasn't as bad as the one I had five years ago, but it is not something one should ignore.

Sky Watch Submision

I was rather surprised that they kept me at the hospital overnight. I have had four or five of these and this was the first time I was kept in the hospital overnight. It wasn't the Ritz-Carlton but at least my view wasn't all that bad.  They ran all kinds of tests to make sure the TIA wasn't caused by a larger clot that broke apart. I was sent home with an all clear, and told to just keep taking my medications as directed.

I am not sure why, but I signed up for an online dating service. Maybe it was the little vacation I took. Of course it was free to sign up but to actually communicate with anyone there is a service fee. I haven't paid the fee and am thinking I should just delete my profile. Although it is rather tempting, as my profile has a number of messages (ones that of course I can't read without paying).  I am sure I will eventually start meeting people closer to my own age, just have to figure out where they are.

Isn't this little guy cute? I have been wanting to capture a nice shot of a bird for a long time. Thanks to the atrium at the public library I was able to capture this cute little guy.

Work and Wonderful Weather

Some days I wonder how others can work full time indoors. Then I remember, oh ya I did that for many years. It wasn't so bad when the weather outside was nasty but oh I can remember wanting to play hooky when the weather was nice. TGIF really meant a lot during those years.

Skywatch Friday submission

Now although I try to do most of my indoor work on rainy days or in the later part of the evening so that I can be outdoors as much as possible during the good weather it doesn't always work out that way. This week it was so beautiful outside, but the website needed to be revamped and photographs needed to be processed. Maybe I should put a work station in the backyard for those days.

Fabulous Friday Submission

Had I stayed indoors and worked steadily the indoor work probably would have been completed much sooner but who can resist a sunny day. Instead I took lots of breaks and headed outside with my camera to capture a bit of the fun.

Of course the work still needed to be done and I did get back to it eventually. The reward is this really fun memory print for a local pre-school, cohesiveness between our primary website and our informational website. Announcement of our May Special Feature Artwork, and a number of fun new products in our on-line gift shop. I am excited to to see what next week brings.
