Sheridan Lake

Nestled in the Black Hills National Forest a short drive from Rapid City sit beautiful lake Sheridan. Although Lexxi and I were all for an afternoon of cliff diving, the rest of the family voted for the spacious swim beach. The wide stretch of sandy beach sat just beyond a good size lush green lawn scattered with trees and picnic benches, as well as a bathroom facilities. 

While Sissy's heat sensitivity caused her to break out in a bothersome rash at first, after she got in the cool water she was fine and able to enjoy the day. Of course having her best friend there made it extra special. 

After a fun day splashing and swimming in the lake, digging in the sand and eating an enjoyable lunch we headed bhomw just in time to miss the summer storm that was rolling in.

Wandering The Hillside

I finally managed to get the time to go on a short hike in the hills behind our new home. Here is what I saw.

The prairie grass was nearly shoulder high on either side of the trail in some areas and when the breeze kicked up it was beautiful to see the grass sway.

I followed the trail a little way and then having forgotten to use some type of bug repellant I decided it was time to head back rather than be eaten alive by mosquito's and gnats.

Boxes Boxes and More Boxes

By now one would think I am an expert mover. I have literally lost track of the number of times I have moved in my life. I am sure if I wanted to fill up a tablet and pull out the calculator I could come up with a relatively accurate calculation but that is way too much work for my old brain. So instead just let me say this ...

I hate moving!

I hate packing!

I hate unpacking!

and I HATE boxes!

And this month has been jammed full of all of them, and there is still a great deal of unpacking and organizing to do. The good news though is that I LOVE our new view!

I am looking forward to wandering around the hillside!

We are still in Rapid City, only now instead of being on the edge near the valley we are on the opposite side with all the beautiful hills.
